OUR JOURNEY so far
Born in 2021, Equilibrium Fest was created to offer the local community a safe space to connect and recalibrate following the strangeness of the lockdown experience. Reconnecting the wealth of well-being practitioners in the local and surrounding communities and offering educational workshops in a range of wellness & holistic practices and eco-related topics.
The first event was co-created by Lisa Wetton and Malala Ramenzoni, a local business owner in Sitges at the time. It was held at IAB, Institute for Arts, Barcelona in September 2021. The day was a huge success, offering 63 workshops and talks from over 50 Health Professionals and Holistic Practitioners. With over 20 stalls providing demonstrations, practices and products, as well as DJs curated by Danny Mekanik, Live musicians, healthy food and drink.
Despite the success of the event, we met with Council intervention and on our 2nd scheduled event in September 2022, we experienced some obstacles due to licensing and logistics that were presented to us. Original partner Malala, moved away from the area to create another unique project down the coast.
Rather than abandon the project, members from the original team formed an official Company and made an agreement to continue. Our 2nd event took place at Neàpolis Innovation Centre in Vilanova on Sunday 4th June 2023 after a 9 month postponement which incurred loss to the organisers and a great amount of patience and resilience from the participants that stayed with us. It was clear that many of us, against the odds, shared a powerful intention to bring these practices into the community.
In the following 2 years Carolyne Perron who previously led our Team of Volunteers and her partner Julien Moreau, one of the first stand-holders and speakers joined Lisa and Danny to run the company.
The 3rd edition was held in the same venue on Saturday 18th May, 2024 as we continued to develop the festival’s message of conscious living, co-creation, sustainability and living in balance! We implemented a theme of AUTHENTICITY and also delivered 6 x 1-day long retreats based in stunning Sitges Villas together.
Following the 3rd festival and reflection on the direction we wanted the company to take, Carolyne took up position as Manager for our 2024 main sponsor Butterfly Solutions and continues to collaborate with us from there. Julien is focussing on his work as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner and is one of our collaborating practitioners in wellbeing events. Lisa Natasha Wetton and Danny Mekanik continue as life partners to nurture their vision for Equilibrium in its truest most expansive form. Bringing together their skills in Wellness and Music Events to create transformational experiences with heart and soul.
With collaboration at the heart of what we do, we continue to connect with multiple Health Professionals and Educators, including local partners such as Catvana Learning Centre for specialised Children’s activities, Plastic Oceans Europe fostering sustainability, Happy Expats integrating multicultural Expat Community with the local area, Yogi Tea supporting our ethos and message for 3 consecutive festivals. We also partner with Little Paper Towns in the development of a professionally supported web platform for practitioners in the Wellness sector, which we will be giving more focus to in 2025.
For our Parties and Music Events, led by Danny, we continue to work with a dynamic young team in Barcelona on Wonk Events, with Emily Pendergast, otherwise known as Mimsy, Will Grant aka Leverage and Simon Boulind, alias Betterlate. Wonk is for those in the KnOw and we know it’s only just begun!
With a sincere aim to integrate this multicultural well-being community with the local Catalan community, we are inspired to nurture and grow the brand with other elements that offer a range of transformational experiences, including workshops; retreats; transformational holidays; private parties; music and dance events. All these aspects are part of who we are and bring our histories together to form Equilibrium Events.
